What is the life expectancy of a Yamaha 250 four stroke?
Nov 9, 2018 · 3-4K hours if it’s properly maintained. Guys who run them all the time (Charter, commercial) get 7k hours out of them. They like to run. 1400hrs on my 07 F250's, Running good knock wood, one had a lower unit replaced two years ago.

They say it has 600 hours on it and the guy replaced it with a new 300hp. Concerned about corrosion as it's my understanding 250 built prior to 2008 could have this issue. The shop wants 6k for the motor.

Sep 25, 2010 · 662 posts · Joined 2005. #9 · Sep 25, 2010. has over 1,000 hrs on my 225 4-strokes and now have almost 400 on my 250s. based on coast guard test reports several years ago the expected to get 4,000 our of their 4-strokes ans 2,000 form their 2-strokes. Believe there was a reprint in the BoatUS magazine about 1 year ago.

Jan 1, 2005 · Thanks for all the great replies, wow , alot of info, but if the suzuki 250 4-stroke will have enough power it seems like it could be the right choice, I can not see the Yamaha 4-stroke250 having enough power.after a quick trip to thehulltruth.com I am not so sure that a 250HPDI is a choice either.
how many thermostats are in a Yamaha 250 - 4 stroke?
Jun 18, 2012 · I was charged for 4 thermostats. I have twin 250. I dont know about the 250 four stroke, but most outboards are one per cylinder head...so if you have twins, 4 would be right (2 each motor). Thinning down the fleet! There are two per motor with a little bit of labor removing parts that are in the way.

It is not very loud and it sounds like a belt, but I have no idea what it is. I am curious if anyone else has dealt with this issue before and figured out what the problem was.
