Jun 28, 2016 · This isn't really true in 5e (until you add in Crossbow Master and, especially, Sharpshooter -- but that's a problem with the feats, not the balance of stats). Dex saves might be more numerous, but Str saves are more important to pass. Strength skills are crazy powerful in 5e. Heavy armor at its best is more effective than lighter armors.

It has the option to do minorly more damage, but that's not the important part, unless you have access to feats and take GWM.
