Sep 12, 2011 · Short of obtaining the DD-214 for my known original owner of my squadron named VC-4 patch & after witnessing that a squadron named Korean War VC-4 patch does exist, I now feel less confused with regards as to whether or not a named or non-named version of the VC-4 patch predates the other. Jan 29, 2016 · In April of 1957 the squadron began to transition to the P2V-5F. The squadron's P2V-6M aircraft were transferred to the reserves in preparation for a WestPac deployment in the -5Fs. On 1 SEP 57, VA(HM)-10 deployed to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan and FAW-6 with their -5Fs. All NAVY patrol squadrons received new tail codes letters on 9 DEC 57.

Jul 8, 2008 · This patch and two WWII vintage Army patches were sewn on a small child’s jacket which was on a rack with boy scout uniforms and this jacket was tagged as a boy scout uniform. I didn’t know what this patch was, and when I returned home I did some research, The closest thing I found was a Naval Scouting Squadron VS-71

Nov 6, 2011 · Hello Fred, This patch was used by VF-144 from 1956-1959 when the squadron was redesignated VA-52. The patch is correct. The squadron kept the name but changed the insignia.

Oct 5, 2018 · This patch is on an aviator's kit bag, and belonged to a vet who served as a backseat gunner on a Grumman that flew off of the USS Hoggatt Bay (CVE-75) during WW2.
