Dec 14, 2018 · Why wasn't Fiona in human form? Rumpelstiltskin had the contract signed by Shrek costing his existence. Shrek didn't exist, which means that Fiona was always a human (unless at night when the curse took place) when she was imprisoned in the castle. However she is seen as a female warrior ogre in the tribe/clan. Regarding that:

Jun 14, 2018 · The storybooks at the beginning of Shrek 1 and Shrek 2 clearly show both Fiona and King Harold to have been perfectly human at the time of Fiona's birth. Fiona's discussion with Donkey in Shrek 1 strongly indicates that her ogre form was the result of the curse, rather than her natural state: FIONA: When I was a girl, a witch cast a spell on me.

There is nothing within the Shrek universe to indicate that "true love" can be anything other than romantic love. Queen Lillian may have well kissed Fiona (and what mother doesn't kiss her daughter goodnight), but it will not have worked.
