Dec 28, 2024 · A Shetland is a Shetland; a Miniature Horse would be a mini, to me at least, and then there's different type/breed crosses to produce something small and of course there's dwarfism in these breeds. However labels mini and miniature horse is often used to describe something small in some areas. I hear it in the UK and applied to Shetlands.

Smaller horses just eat a tad less, but they need just as much care and dedication as a regular size horse would. There is still lesson costs with this horse, which wouldn't cost less because the horse is smaller. Ferrier costs, tack, fencing, food, shelter.

Mar 31, 2021 · I don't believe the size of your backyard is prohibitive to keeping minis. Horses, regardless of size, need free movement/lots of exercise, but a)they often don't get it in a big paddock either & b) people keep even big horses in boxes or small yards.
