Henry FitzRoy, Duke of Richmond and Somerset (c. 15 June 1519 – 23 July 1536) was the son of Henry VIII of England and his mistress Elizabeth Blount, and the only child born out of wedlock whom Henry acknowledged. He was the younger half-brother of Mary I, as well as the older half-brother of Elizabeth I and Edward VI.

On 7th June 1525 at the age of six, Henry FitzRoy was made a Knight of the Garter at St George's Chapel, Windsor. On 18 June of the same year, he was elevated to peerage when his father created him Duke of Richmond and Somerset and Earl of Nottingham at a glittering ceremony, which took place at Bridewell.

The fourteen-year-old Henry FitzRoy, Duke of Richmond, married Mary Howard on 26th November 1533. It has been claimed by Alison Weir , the author of The Six Wives of Henry VIII (2007), that the marriage had been arranged by Anne Boleyn in an effort to gain the support of the Duke of Norfolk.

FitzRoy died on 23 July 1536, aged 17, probably of tuberculosis. He was buried in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. His titles were forfeit on his death and were not restored until after the accession of his son, Henry FitzRoy, 2nd Duke of Richmond and Somerset, to the throne in 1603.
