Richard J. Cunningham is a fictional character in the 1970s TV sitcom Happy Days, [1] played by Ron Howard. Richie is Howard and Marion Cunningham's son and Joanie Cunningham and Chuck Cunningham 's brother.

Ralph comes to the Cunninghams' to tell everyone "I just enlisted in the United States Marines." After he leaves, Richie says Ralph has "gone to sign up (enlist)," although Ralph had just finished telling them that he enlisted.
