Jul 20, 2012 · I used hoof boots on a day on /day off basis a few months ago when I was trying to get healthier frogs on my horse. I used pads in Cavallo boots and it did seem to help. My horse gets rubs very easily, so I used baby powder around the lip of the boots to try to ward off rubs.

Feb 4, 2012 · I also use the Cavallo boots on all of my horses. I tried the Cavallo's after having nothing but problems with other boots on the market. I have never had a boot come off and they are by far the easiest to fit and take on and off. If you horse has narrower hooves than they have the new Sport boot which is a great fit for a more oval shaped hoof.

Jun 5, 2019 · I've used New Macs and Cavallo Treks and Simple boots. The New Mac is a super secure boot. A little clompy. Great tread. Runs a little narrower than a lot of other boots. Maybe a little more flexible in fit throughout the trim cycle, due to elastic gussets in the heels. The Treks are super user friendly and pretty tidy looking.

Dec 7, 2023 · One of the odd outcomes of my mare's lengthy stint in hoof boots during her laminitis recovery was that yes, she actually DID build a little bit of heel. There were some other issues caused by the boots due to the wetness in winter, but that grew out. And I was rabidly trimming her to keep load bearing off the damaged lamina.
