The Adam Smith Theatre – the cultural heart of the community . Welcome to the Adam Smith! Since we reopened in September 2023 after our major refurbishment, it’s been thrilling to have audiences and visitors back and re-establish ourselves as the cultural heart of our community.

Just a five-minute wander from Kirkcaldy’s train station, you’ll find the Adam Smith Theatre – named after one of the town’s most-influential sons and just as impressive as its namesake. Step inside and you’ll discover a building whose stage can tell a century of stories.

We have: A 475-seat theatre, suitable for plays, children’s shows, opera, film, musicals, ballet, contemporary dance, comedy, lectures and music. Three function rooms for hire: the Beveridge Studio and a large and small function room.
