LG has unveiled the next generation of its OLED technology, which it says is brighter and more energy efficient than ever.

The LG G5 has been officially revealed at CES 2025 as part of LG 2025 OLED TV lineup. As the successor to the LG G4, one of 2024's best OLED TVs, the G5 has received several upgrades including higher brightness, new gaming features and more. There's even been a surprising change regarding its panel.

LG Display has unveiled its 4th generation OLED TV panel with a major brightness boost along with some interesting claims and bragging rights.

The G5 will feature LG's new Brightness Booster Ultimate tech, which also appears in the LG M5, the high-end wireless 4K OLED TV in LG’s 2025 TV lineup, and LG says the G5 (and M5) are up to three times brighter than the entry-level B-series of OLED TVs (but didn't offer any more comparisons to more directly comparable sets).

LG Display's new 4th-generation OLED panels are 33 percent brighter than previous generations, while also being more power-efficient.

The fourth-generation panel, capable of hitting 4,000 nits, is already in some of 2025’s most anticipated TVs including the LG G5 and Panasonic’s Z95B.

LG's top-line 2025 OLED TVs and gaming monitors will have fourth-generation panels that deliver exceptional brightness and colour accuracy. They're also more energy efficient, and other brands are set to benefit too.
