Hundreds of NYPD officers will start patrolling overnight trains next week, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Thursday – finally detailing her much-anticipated subway safety surge. “Monday, you’ll start to see the overnight presence on the trains,” she said, wearing a windbreaker in a Grand Central Station news conference.

Uniformed cops on trains began rolling out Monday night, and eventually two officers will ride every train running between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., the department said.

NYPD officers have begun riding aboard overnight subway trains and patrolling stations as part of a new crackdown on crime and homelessness across the transit system.
