The move echoes one Sanders made during his own draft process in 1989. The Giants asked draft prospects to take a two-hour psychological assessment at the NFL Scouting Combine. Upon learning the Giants had the 18th pick in the draft, Sanders declined to take the assessment.

It's become clear that, as the 2024 season has pressed on, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has firmed up his spot as a certain first-round pick, and a probable Top 10 pick. It's even likely that he will be the QB1 of this draft, if he beats out Miami's Cam Ward and perhaps a late push from Jalen Milroe of Alabama.

McCarthy is in the final year of his contract and with the Cowboys struggling, it will be pretty easy for Jerry Jones to make the decision to move on once the season is over (Jones has already said he won't fire McCarthy during the season).
