He had a killer final meal. A South Carolina inmate who died by lethal injection Friday chowed down on a hearty multi-course meal before the Palmetto State carried out its first execution in 13 years.

South Carolina has executed Freddie Owens, the first inmate to die at the hands of the State in over a decade.The execution took place despite appeals from anti-death penalty advocates who urged Governor Henry McMaster to intervene.

Freddie Owens' execution appears to be moving forward despite a sworn statement from the man who testified against him that Owens wasn't even at the crime scene.
