Blue Origin scored a major win with its New Glenn rocket launch, but SpaceX still leads the space industry with a Falcon fleet and upcoming Starship.

The successful flight to orbit of the Amazon founder’s powerful rocket suggests it could grow into a credible competitor with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

After abruptly calling off its first launch attempt in the early hours of Monday morning, Blue Origin notched a historic success with its first orbital rocket.

Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin livestreamed the historic moment it launched its massive New Glenn rocket for the first time early Thursday.

The uncrewed New Glenn rocket took off at 2:03 a.m. EST from Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Blue Origin said.

The blast-off of the revolutionary new spaceship suffered multiple delays before officials in Cape Canaveral, Florida, eventually pulled the plug at around 3.15am ET.
