The New England Patriots have hired former NFL head coach Doug Marrone to join their staff. This was reported by Pats Pro and Joseph Pasteris, before being confirmed by multiple media outlets. Marrone’s role with the organization is not known at this time.
Mike Vrabel is adding another veteran coach to his offensive staff. According to a source, the Patriots are hiring former NFL head coach, offensive coordinator, and veteran offensive line coach Doug Marrone. The 60-year-old coach is best known for being a head coach with the Buffalo Bills (2013-2014) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2016-2020).
The Patriots are also bringing Jason Houghtaling aboard, a source confirmed to MassLive’s Mark Daniels. Houghtaling is very familiar to Mike Vrabel, as he served as an assistant offensive line coach on his Titans staff (2021-22) before being elevated into the lead role in 2023.
Aside from the coordinators, Mike Vrabel had no more significant hire at hand than who he tabbed to be his offensive line coach. On Monday, the Patriots' first-year head coach plucked veteran Doug Marrone from friend Bill O'Brien's Boston College staff for an undetermined role as of this writing.

On Monday, Vrabel made a number of key hires to add some experience and pedigree to his coaching staff. Former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone is joining Vrabel's staff, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Marrone most recently served as the offensive line coach for the New Orleans Saints in 2023.
