A powerful storm system pummeled Hawaii Thursday with flash flooding, damaging wind gusts, severe thunderstorms and blizzard-like conditions on the high mountain peaks.
Although it usually happens once or twice a year, this will be a very big snow for the tops of the volcanoes in Hawaii. One to two feet of snow will be possible.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency plans for and responds to both natural and human-caused emergencies. Because of the storm, the Emergency Operations Center was activated.
