The Bruins submitted their best performance of the season on Monday, holding the Capitals to 11 shots on goal in a 4-1 win.

In the final game before the Christmas break, the Boston Bruins (19-13-4) extended their winning streak at TD Garden to five games with a 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals (23-9-2).

The Capitals were playing their third game in four nights and looked it, staying close but ultimately falling at TD Garden, 4-1.

Elias Lindholm scored with 6:19 left to break a third-period tie, and the Boston Bruins beat the Washington Capitals 4-1.

Bruins forward Oliver Wahlstrom received a game misconduct after a hit that sent Capitals defenseman Martin Fehervary head-first into the end boards 10 seconds into the third period. Washington failed to get a shot on goal during the five-minute power play.
