Premier Giorgia Meloni is set to meet French President Emmanuel Macron in Rome Tuesday for talks aimed at thawing sometimes frosty relations between the EU's second and third biggest economies and founding members whose partnership was boosted by the November 2021 Quirinal Treaty signed by Macron and then premier Mario Draghi.

Emmanuel Macron, France's centrist president, and Giorgia Meloni, Italy's far-right prime minister, held three hours of talks followed by dinner on Tuesday to discuss topics such as the Ukraine war and Trump's sweeping tariffs.
