Tallahassee gets a trace of snow every now and again — in 2010 and 2004, for instance. But measurable snow has fallen only eight times since 1891.

Forecasters said it was too early to tell whether the ice and snow would approach or beat Tallahassee’s all-time snowfall record of 2.8 inches set in 1958.

Forecasters couldn’t rule out the possibility that Tallahassee could see a record snowfall on Tuesday or Wednesday morning from a rare winter storm that may be talked about for generations.
