One word tells the story of this September’s weather in New York City: Dry. September has been an unusually dry month. Only one day this month has Central Park recorded measurable rain, and that only added up to about a quarter-inch.

After a nice end to the weekend, some much needed rain will be returning for the first half of the week. This will come in several waves, with the first arriving with a slow moving cold front arriving on Monday.

We’re approaching a favorite time of year for many New Yorkers — fall — and with it comes leaf peeping and fall foliage. But will the recent dry spell impact the colors in the tri-state this year? Areas of upper New England will start to see peak fall foliage in late September.
