Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway took place on Sunday, and the playoff standings and Cup points have been updated. With this being the eighth race of the Cup Series season, the top drivers continue to battle for playoff positioning and a chance to win the regular season championship.

William Byron was one spot short of sweeping all the playoff points and winning Sunday's Goodyear 400 at Darlington. But his second-place finish did increase his NASCAR Cup Series regular-season points lead to nearly a full race over Denny Hamlin.

Chase Briscoe won last fall's Southern 500 and was the only driver to finish in the top five in both Darlington races last year.
