Friday marked the last day of the Kentucky legislative session. This session was 30 days, and lawmakers stayed busy. "It's been a very long, short session," said Sen. David Yates, a Democrat from Louisville and the Senate Minority Whip. "We've gone through a lot of different bills. There's been some heartache, but some wins."

The Kentucky legislature could still move some of these 13 bills and resolutions in its final two days of session. But they wouldn’t withstand a veto from Gov. Andy Beshear.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Senate President Robert Stivers said he believes this was one of the more successful sessions of his tenure. Hundreds of bills were filed during the session with nearly 30 of them being vetoed by Governor Andy Beshear. With the veto period in the rearview, the legislature now has the opportunity to override vetoes.

The governor vetoed that bill last week, but just hours after the rally, the House voted to override the veto 78-20. At around 4:30 p.m., the Senate also voted to override the veto of House Bill 495 by a vote of 31 to 6.

Senate Bill 130 was signed into law by Gov. Andy Beshear after passing unanimously in both the House and Senate.
