By Akash Sriram, Arsheeya Bajwa (Reuters) -As the global auto world reeled from the potential fallout of U.S. President Donald Trump's new auto tariffs, one name stood out as less affected than others - electric-vehicle maker Tesla.

Elon Musk has benefited from his close alliance with Donald Trump, as the president has ousted federal officials who had overseen departments investigating the billionaire's multiple companies.

Musk says Tesla is “NOT unscathed” from Trump’s tariffs, but auto industry analyst consensus suggests Tesla has a far smoother tariff road than other American carmakers.

EV brands Rivian, BYD, and Lucid take the wheel to satisfy drivers who are sick of Musk’s conduct. “It’s time for me to divest from all things Elon,” one marketing exec, now an ex-Tesla owner, tells VF.

Despite Tesla’s stock dropping nearly 50% since December, new vehicle registrations and renewals in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam increased by 25%.
