There have been seven basic designs of the U.S. quarter. Most of these are known by the design on the obverse of the coin, though one, the Barber, is instead named for its designer, Charles Barber.
This 25-cent piece was struck over a silver U.S. quarter designed by engraver Charles E. Barber, whose coins were minted from 1892 to 1916. Numismatic Guaranty also has certified this coin.
