The Washington Commanders' merry-go-round at kicker continued Monday when they released Cade York after one game. York missed two field goal attempts and had one kickoff go out of bounds in Washington's season-opening loss at Tampa Bay.

"I think it just really goes to show we have really high standards," Commanders coach Dan Quinn said at his Monday press conference. Seibert, 27, has made 45 of 56 field-goal attempts in 31 career games with the Browns (2019-20), Cincinnati Bengals (2020), Detroit Lions (2021-22) and New York Jets (2023).

Cade York was acquired via trade by the Commanders in advance of Week 1 to serve as their kicker, but his audition in the nation’s capital has proved to be short-lived. The team announced on Monday he has been released. A replacement appears to be in place, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports Washington plans to sign Austin Seibert.

After Cade York missed two field goals in the season opener, Washington released him and signed journeyman Austin Seibert.
