It's only been a few weeks since a Reuters news report suggested that Qualcomm had been eyeballing Intel's chip design business and now it's being claimed the maker of the Snapdragon X processor has approached Intel with the view to a full takeover.

Qualcomm has approached the once-dominant chipmaker Intel for a potential buyout, turning the spotlight on the portfolio of products these chip companies have to offer.

At the time, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said the company would stop all nonessential work and has since announced it will spin off its chipmaking business, a part of the company that it had long touted as a strength over rival AMD and the many fabless chipmakers that rely on entities like Taiwan’s TSMC to produce all of their actual silicon.
