For the first time this season, the New York Mets were the victims of a series sweep. After entering their three-game series against the Tampa Rays on a six-game win streak and holding the best home record in all of baseball,
Tampa Bay’s 17-6 record since May 20 is the best in baseball, and the Rays showed a lot of the reasons why Saturday.
The video was filmed during the Mets’ Pride Night game against the Tampa Bay Rays June 13. The national anthem portion of the event opened with a video showing the American flag. A Pride flag appeared on the jumbotron briefly mid-song.
The Mets’ offense didn’t help their pitchers much either. Despite having traffic on the bases in all but one inning, they failed to score a run. In the end, they left 12 runners stranded and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
After Sunday’s miserable 9-0 loss to the Rays marked their first time getting swept all year, the Mets are finally facing something resembling adversity.
