Notre Dame made history by defeating Indiana and collecting its first CFP win for the university and its recently extended head coach Marcus Freeman. While this is a great accomplishment, nobody in Notre Dame land is satisfied, everybody wants more, as they all should.

The final quarterfinal matchup of the 2024-25 College Football Playoff features two of the most iconic programs in college football history, as SEC champion (2) Georgia takes on (7) Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

Notre Dame has the chance to record its biggest win in over 30 years against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. The question is: will it?

If Georgia playing Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl has a classic ring to it, it should. A national championship hung in the balance when a freshman running back named Herschel Walker helped the 1980 Bulldogs capture a national title by beating the Fighting Irish 17-10 in the Sugar Bowl.

Notre Dame and Georgia face off on New Years Day down in New Orleans, and with all of the matchups that will be highlighted throughout this game, none might be more important than the battle inside of the red zone.
