Mayor Karen Bass put a curfew in place for a portion of the downtown area of Los Angeles when she declared a local emergency as a result of the escalating protests throughout the city. The curfew remained in place for a fifth night after the "No Kings" protests wrapped in L.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom delivered a statewide address on Tuesday in the wake of immigration operations that sparked days of protest in Los Angeles and the deployment of hundreds of National Guard and U.S. Marines troops to the area by President Trump.

Downtown Los Angeles is currently under curfew, impacting several live entertainment events as protests over ICE raids continue. The curfew was enacted by Mayor Karen Bass on June 10 and covers a one-square-mile are of downtown LA.

A press freedom group is suing the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the city itself over what the organization says is mistreatment of journalists covering the civil unrest there in response to President Trump’s immigration initiatives.
