The French territory of Mayotte is on red alert again with another cyclone heading toward the islands off Africa that were devastated by their worst storm in nearly a century last month.

The French Indian Ocean territory remains under a red alert until Monday evening due to the tropical storm. Less than a month after the devastation caused by Chido, authorities and residents alike have sought to reduce the storm's risks.

Tropical storm Dikeledi barreled towards Mozambique on Monday after leaving three dead in Madagascar and triggering floods in the French territory of Mayotte, less than a month after the cyclone-battered region was hit by Chido.

Mayotte issued a red alert and people were ordered to stay in their homes and store food and water as Tropical Storm Dikeledi brought heavy rains and strong winds to France’s poorest department.View o

Authorities will put the French overseas territory of Mayotte on red alert late on Saturday, Overseas Minister Manuel Valls said, as a tropical storm nears the Indian Ocean archipelago that was devastated by a cyclone last month.
