We came early in the day and were able to get a parking space very near the pier for $1. The Pier itself is a bit edgy and run down but it is also iconic. It didn't feel particularly safe.Full review by LAW64

This is a true bucket list experience. Very busy but plenty to do, had perfect weather, just be weary of your belongings as there are a lot of people around. Highly recommendedFull review by SDSCLOG
Absolutely not. It's not recommended. Currently there are bird and homeless issues underneath the Pier. During low tide, you can walk underneath the Pier, but I would walk briskly!
Hi! Thinking of visiting the Santa Monica Beach area next Summer. Considering hiring bikes and cycling the boardwalk down to Marina Del Rey and back. Question is, is it possible to lock and leave bikes during the trip if we see something we want to explore on foot? Do bike-hire companies hire out chainlocks for the bikes? Cheers!
