Is it lots of walking? Is it a lot of steps to climb? As, I am restricted with walking due to hip problems.
A:
in most monasteries it is necessary to climb steps.one of the monasteries is very accessible, others of medium difficulty but it depends on your mobility difficulty

There are many companies doing tours in Meteora. When I checked in at my hotel, the owner did ask me if I wanted to do tour and by that way I think they can help you with it. I did not do with the hotel just because I had booked before I came. I believe you can come to Meteora by bus too, but the train is more comfortable.
Hi we would like to take the tour and go on the 22 or 23 Dec and come back on the 25 Dec (we have booked hotel rooms there). Is this possible?

Hi! My husband and I did this tour in a day. We were staying in Athens and took an early train to Kalabaka in the morning. We saw 4 monasteries (including the one in the caves) and felt that was enough). We took the train back to Athens that evening. It's a wonderful place to visit and learn about!

Generally, most everyone wants to see the spectacular views that you can see from high up, but we hiked all around the bases and lots of areas that you didn't have to go anywhere near an edge and yet you could see spectacular vistas. You can always organize a private tour that can design the type of trip you want to take. (In December, my group only involved an additional couple so was very much about what we wanted to do. The town has lots of wonderful, walkable areas that have great views of the rocks.
Will there be lunch served on the 1 day train tour to Meteora? Also, how should we dress? If we go Monday or Tuesday, will one of the three monasteries be closed? Thank you.

The train from Athens to Meteora does have a small dining car, with snacks, we elected to bring our own food on board. We went to Meteora at the end of September this year, and the weather was beautiful, needed a light jacket in the evening as you are in the moutains. You will want to dress for a lot of walking and stairs, this is a work-out to visit these monasteries. For women to enter the monasteries, you must be covered up with a skirt or cover-up. I had packed a skirt and carried it with me in my backpack. I was able to wear work-out pants with tennis shoes, and slipped the skirt on and off when entering and leaving the monasteries. They did sell cover-ups at the gates to each monastery. Sunday is the best day to be there as all 6 monasteries are open for visiting. Each day of the week, one of the monasteries is closed. There is a schedule on the Visit Meteora website that tells you which one is closed on that day. We were their on Saturday and Sunday and it was well worth it.
